From an Idea to Bella's Home Laundry & Ironing Services

Mhangwana Vuthlari is the founder of Bella's Home Laundry & Ironing Services, a home-based laundry business serving customers in Seshego, Polokwane.

She officially started the business on 1 March 2026, with a simple idea: to provide people in her community with a convenient, reliable and affordable laundry service while creating an opportunity for herself to become independent and build something of her own.

Starting From Home

Starting a business from home has been both exciting and challenging.

In the beginning, Mhangwana had to learn many things along the way — from managing customers and organising laundry to keeping track of payments, managing her time and making sure every customer's clothes are handled with care.

The work also comes with challenges that customers may not always see.

Different customers have different expectations. Some may need their clothes urgently, while others may have specific instructions about how their laundry should be washed, dried or ironed.

Weather can also become a challenge, particularly when clothes need to dry and there is rain or very little sunlight.

She says she always tries her best to handle every customer's laundry responsibly and professionally.

Building a customer base also takes time. In the beginning, there may not be many customers, which means continuing to promote the business, provide good service and encourage customers to recommend the business to others.

Every customer, referral and piece of positive feedback has become motivation to keep going.

Mhangwana's vision is to grow Bella's Home Laundry & Ironing Services into a trusted laundry service within her community, while creating more opportunities for herself and eventually creating employment opportunities for others.

Her journey has taught her that you don't always need to start with everything you want.
